In 16th century Majorca, the city of Palma was divided between the top part of the city (la vila d’amunt) and the bottom part (la vila d’avall). The Canamunts and Canavalls (from the top and bottom) were two enemy gangs who existed for almost a century! Their disputes went far back in time, almost to the time of Majorca’s conquest, and they were settled through bloodshed and heinous crimes.
