A place of legend! 

Es Pantaleu is a little island just in front of Sant Elm (Andratx). It was the first piece of Majorcan soil that King James and his troops landed on when they arrived to conquer the island. On it, there was a little spring with fresh water, with a trough that the king’s horse is supposed to have drunk from.  It is also the first place where mass was held. According to chronicles of the period, while the fleet was anchored there, James 1st received a visit from a Saracen called Ali, who swam to the island to tell the monarch how the Saracens had organized the island’s defence.
