Santa Margalida Spring
Felanitx

A place of legend!

In the year of Majorca’s conquest, King James is said to have been riding his horse in Felanitx on Saint Margaret’s day when the animal kicked the ground so hard that water began to gush copiously from a spring there. The spring still exists and it is called Sa Font de Santa Margalida. Each year, a festivity is held there. There are other versions according to which water began to gush from the spring in 1490 on Saint Margaret’s day. There had been a terrible drought that year and the town prayed hard for water... Was it a miracle or an amazing feat by the king’s horse? Whatever the case, Felanitx still celebrates it today!
