A place of legend!

This is the tale of Lau Fe’t-pendre, a young lad from Esporles who was courting two girls at the same time. One was from Puigpunyent and the other was from Establiments. One evening he was on his way to visit the second when a bonfire suddenly appeared on a bridge. Whenever he moved, the bonfire moved and whenever he stopped, the bonfire stopped too. The lad turned round and another bonfire appeared behind him. The poor boy was so scared by the two fires, on the Establiments side and on the Puigpunyent side, that he was incapable of taking another step all night long, and he only went home when the sun rose and the bonfires disappeared. When he told his mother and sister, they decided that it was witchcraft caused by the two girls he was courting. Or was it his guilty conscience that made him see things?
