Excavations on the site of Sa Carrotja began in 1908, when the existence of a church was discovered that was 23 metres long and 10 metres wide. Unfortunately, part of the site was destroyed with the urban development that Porto Cristo underwent in the mid 20th century. Today only the christening font and some fragments of the mosaic floor remain.
