Porreres Town Hall moved to a house known as Posada dels Monjos or Can Sitjar in 1939 because the building that it had occupied since the 17th century had become cramped.
Although its interiors were renovated, the façade of this 19th century building was maintained, with its symmetrically arranged windows, set on either side of a central section that stands out for its decorative mouldings. Above the balcony on the main floor, the town’s coat of arms can be seen dating back to 1671.
