The cemetery is built on land belonging to Son Sang estate. Work began on its construction in 1814, although it has undergone several alterations and extensions. One of its foremost features is the chapel, consecrated in 1841, containing a reredos with a statue of Christ and one of Our Lady of Sorrows by sculptor Guillem Galmés. Numerous other sculptures decorate the graves, including ones by Josep Llimona, Tomàs Vila, Miquel Arcas and Soller-born sculptor Cristòfol Quintana.
