La Colcada
Palma

Remígia Caubet was commissioned with making La Colcada by Palma City Council in 1968 as a tribute to writer Pere d’Alcàntara Penya. It is named after one of his poems in which a grandmother in peasant dress explains to her grandchildren what the festivities to commemorate the conquest of Majorca used to be like in order to keep the tradition alive. This poem is recited each year at the celebration known as the Festa de l’Estendard.
