This 1915 monument is by sculptor Joan Grauches. It was commissioned to replace another 1842 monument by Jacint Mateu which was in a very bad state of repair. Jaume Ferrer was a 14th century Majorcan sailor and he is depicted as such. The little information that is known about him is from the Catalan Atlas made by Abraham and Jafuda Cresques.
