Ariany's current church was built in 1737 to replace an earlier one dating back to 1570, dedicated to Our Lady of the Snows. Its construction was funded by Marc Antoni Cotoner, Marquess of Ariany. As he lived in Madrid, it was re-dedicated to Our Lady of Atocha.
