Nuns came to live on Inca’s hillside in 1534 in estate houses adjoining Sant Bartomeu Church. As a result, this convent has a different layout than others, since it is set around several courtyards. The public part of the convent is made up of the courtyard to the church, cloister and house of the lay sisters. The courtyard features a large very old hackberry tree known as Sister Clara Andreu’s hackberry in reference to a 17th century nun who was much loved at the convent.
