The Saracens who had been expelled from Majorca after King James’ conquest of the island found out that the monarch was on his death bed. Wishing to take advantage of this, they landed their galleys close to Sa Punta de n’Amer. When the dying king heard, he ordered his men to tie him to his horse and to send the animal cantering toward the coast where the enemy ships were. When the Saracens saw the great king coming toward them with such fury, they fled in fear.
